A heat advisory remains in effect until 7 pm cdt tuesday.
* excessive heat and humidity is expected to continue through tuesday. This is especially important given all the area events...from high school football and soccer games...to ongoing state fairs and festivals.
* temperatures will continue to reach the lower to mid 90s each afternoon through early next week. These temperatures will combine with high humidity to produce afternoon heat index values from 100 to 105 for most locales. Isolated locations will continue to see the heat index top 105 at times.
* the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
